Humane Educational Society's Extreme Makeover

Calling all artists!
Are you an artist and an animal lover? The Humane Educational Society needs you! HES is going cageless and they need your help with their extreme makeover! Feature your artwork on their brand new glass dens.

Each glass den is held together with cement block and they want YOU to paint the block with exciting and colorful designs! Submit pictures of your artwork and ideas to be considered for this exciting makeover to hesvolunteer@comcast.net.
They are fortunate to have the artwork of volunteer Mike Holsomback in their newly refurbished lobby. He is also creating exciting muriels in their soon to be opened educational center. Join Mike and the HES staff as they enter into a new era for homeless animals in Hamilton County! Help create a beautiful and welcoming atmosphere for their animals and potential adopters!

Make the Humane Educational Society look better than ever to bring in adopters for Hamilton County's homeless animals.

Gabbye the Cavalier

Nita was kind enough to send in a picture of sweet Gabbye, her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Nita said this is what she sees when she leaves for work each morning. "Don't go, Mom!"

A Little Humor

If you want someone who will eat whatever you put in front of him and never say its not quite as good as his mothers...

...then get a dog.

If you want someone always willing to go out, at any hour, for as long and wherever you want...

...then get a dog.

If you want someone who will never touch the remote, doesn't care about football, and can sit next to you as you watch romantic movies...

...then get a dog.

If you want someone who is content to get on your bed just to warm your feet and whom you can push off if he snores...

...then get a dog !

If you want someone who never criticizes what you do, doesn't care if you are pretty or ugly, fat or thin, young or old, who acts as if every word you say is especially worthy of listening to, and loves you unconditionally, perpetually...

...then get a dog.

BUT , on the other hand, if you want someone who will never come when you call, ignores you totally when you come home, leaves hair all over the place, walks all over you, runs around all night and only comes home to eat and sleep, and acts as if your entire existence is solely to ensure his happiness...

...then get a cat!

Now be honest, you thought I was gonna say then get a man, didn't you? :-)

Clear the Kennels

On July 1, 2008 the Chattanooga Humane Educational Society will no longer provide sheltering services for the city of Chattanooga. They will receive approximately 8,000 less animals each year. Currently they receive up to 1,500 animals each month. That dropped to 300 on July 1st.

The HES will have a unique opportunity to never again have to make a difficult euthanasia decision for an adoptable animal. They will also be able to shift all of their energies from trying to intake and handle up to 100 animals a day to concentrating fully on adopting their animals both locally and nationally.

However, the Chattanooga HES needs your help. From July 1, 2008 until July 12, 2008 they will have a Clear the Kennels campaign to empty their shelter. Approved seniors age 62 or older will be able to adopt animals for free, while all other approved applicants will be able to adopt an animal for a $35.00 fee. They have a wonderful variety of animal breeds from purebred to wonderful mixed breeds.

Please help them Clear the Kennels. You can help by adopting an animal, telling a friend about this unique adoption opportunity, or donate to help offset the cost of an adoption. This is a very exciting time for their shelter. Their renovation projects are almost complete, and their cageless shelter will be finished in the next few months. They will now receive as many animals as they currently adopt each year.

Help the Chattanooga HES continue the fight to end euthanasia in Hamilton County and finally Get to Zero for lost, abused and abandoned animals in our community.

Paws for the Cause

The Chattanooga Humane Educational Society's 1st annual Paws for the Cause is taking place at one of Chattanooga's premier restaurants for a five-star buffet, wine and silent auction. It will be on Thursday, July 17, at 6 p.m. at Niko's Southside Grill.

The cuisine at the former Southside Grill location offers Southern cooking with the freshest ingredients and an infusion of flavors from the Mediterranean.

Keller Williams, Downtown is sponsoring and managing this fund-raiser. As part of their KW Cares program, these Realtors (led by June Coppinger) want to make sure every abandoned pet finds a forever home. They are throwing a great party and silent auction to benefit the Chattanooga HES' Getting to Zero program!

Niko's Southside Grill will be providing this fine dinner and its upscale accommodations as part of their contribution to make this a night to remember! One of Niko's owners, Amy Kyriakidis, has a special connection to the "cause." Her grandfather was executive director of the Memphis Humane Society for many years. She has a lifetime of memories of helping homeless pets.

Continued support is always needed. So, please join Paws for a Cause. Ask your friends and party for the animals!

RSVP TODAY!!

Event tickets:
$75 per Guest or $125 per Couple
$500 for Corporate table of 8
